If you’re like us, you can’t pass a museum store without popping in. Yes, you can say it’s to browse or peruse. Ten times out of 10, though, something intriguing will catch your eye. The perfect gift for… Well, it’s okay to gift oneself.
Almost as good as setting foot in a museum store is having an email arriving alerting that there’s a great new design offering.
That’s exactly what happened for us this week. Smiling from our email inbox was a missive from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).
The email announced the availability of a new line of calendars, greeting cards and prints from Michael Murphy.
Murphy is an American artist and architect from San Francisco. A move to London inspired the series: “The experience of living abroad for ten years was instrumental in the formation of his current aesthetic tastes as well as the profound re-appreciation of San Francisco’s architecture upon his return in 2008.”
They go on to say: “Although often overlooked, San Francisco’s modernist architecture has played an important role in the ongoing modernist movement. With bold colors and stylized graphics, Michael Murphy acknowledges the contributions these stunning buildings make to the visual landscape–refusing to quietly blend into the background and embodying the highest principles of modern architecture.”
We’re loving the Michael Murphy Modern San Francisco collection, almost as much as we love… well, San Francisco!
