In yesterday’s post talking about Pier 39 25th anniversary celebration of its resident sea lions, we mentioned we’d be following up today with info about Oakland’s Restaurant Week. Ta da! It’s here. In fact, it’s going on now through January 25.
Being dying to try some of Oakland’s much lauded restaurants? You’re in luck. Seventy five of them are participating. What that means? Special prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus priced at $20, $30 and $40.
A restaurant on our radar? Desco.
Located in Old Oakland, the restaurant serves up “seasonally fresh, ingredient-driven regional Italian cuisine” through the mastery of Executive Chef Donato Scotti.
Desco’s menu tantalizes with descriptions like these: “The menu includes antipasti and pasta dishes such as Piatto della Casa, a housemade assortment of smoked duck, lamb prosciutto and rabbit terrine as well as Casonsei, a rustic ravioli from Bergamo filled with pork and housemade sausage with a brown butter and guanciale. All the fresh pasta is made in-house. For dessert, diners can enjoy Bünet, a Piemontese chocolate custard made with amaretto cookie with a light caramel sauce. Not to be missed is Desco’s traditional Neapolitan pizze and schiacciatte prepared in a wood-fired oven.”
We figure with Oakland Restaurant Week we’ll have plenty of opportunities to check out the special menu created for this two-week event.
